RESOLUTION AGAINST PROPOSITION ONE (2026)
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE 2026 "PROPOSITION 1" REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM BALLOT INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the State of Idaho has maintained a strong legal and moral commitment to protecting human life and supporting families;
WHEREAS, the proposed 2026 ballot initiative seeks to establish a broad state constitutional right regarding abortion, which would severely restrict the ability of the Idaho Legislature to pass health, safety, and life-affirming regulations;
WHEREAS, constitutional amendments permanentize policy changes and weaken statutory protections previously enacted by the elected representatives of the people of Idaho; and
WHEREAS, preserving the health and safety of women, children, and families remains a primary responsibility of Idaho state governance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Madison County Republican Central Committee officially opposes the 2026 citizen initiative titled Proposition 1 / The Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we call upon members, community leaders, and voters across Idaho to educate their communities on the consequences of this proposed measure and vote against its passage on the November 2026 ballot; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the official minutes of this body and released to the public as our official platform declaration.
