With a record 75% Republican voter turnout (7,108 Republican ballots cast out of 9,459 registered Republicans) in last week’s Presidential Primary in Madison County, we hope Republicans will continue to do their duty by planning to vote in the next May 17, 2016 Primary Election.
Local races that are contested include:
- United States Representative, District 2: Mike Simpson, incumbent, and Lisa Marie, challenger
- Representative House Seat A: Rep. Ron Nate, incumbent, and Doug Ricks, challenger
- Represnetative House Seat B: Rep. Dell Raybould, incumbent, and M.C. “Chick” Heilsen, challenger
- County Commissioner 2nd District: Jon Weber, incumbent, and Jason Drollinger, challenger
- County Sheriff: Cameron Stanford and Rick Henry
- Precinct #3 (Hibbard Area): David Taylor, incumbent, and Maria Nate, challenger
- Precinct #8 (West Pioneer Rd): Boyd Cardon, incumbent, and Kelly McKamey, challenger
- Precinct #9 (East Pioneer Rd): Marsha Bjornn, incumbent, and Nathan Relken, challenger
- Precinct #13 (University): Richard Western, incumbent, and Harrison Smith, challenger
- Precinct #19 (Archer): Randy Sutton, incumbent, and Murray Hunt, challenger
Other non-contested races that will be on the ballot include:
- U.S. State Senator
- State Senator
- County Commissioner 3rd District
- County Prosecutor
There are also nonpartisan races for Supreme Court judges and an Appellate Court judge.
The only contested race is one of the Supreme Court Justice races, which has six candidates running for that position and the Central Fire District Zone 3, which is also contested.
